NEVIS TO ST KITTS CROSS CHANNEL SWIM
March TBC 2019
The swim distance is 2.5miles (4km) and starts from Oualie Beach on Nevis at 8.00am and goes across the 'Narrows' to finish at Cockleshell Beach on St Kitts. The 2019 swim will be the 18th annual Bente Weber Memorial Swim and it continues to offer both a race and a challenge to open water swim enthusiasts and adventurers alike. They will take on the best open ocean swimmers in the region and the world.
In 2018 the event saw a record number of finishers (241) repeating the inclusion of Special Olympics SKN in the relay team format. In 2011 a course record was set by Olivier Marceau in a time of 58:09, and still stands today. 2017 year had a new finish line at the Spice Mill,so a new course record was set by former Olympian Ashley Whitney with a stunning time of 55.28, the 2018 event finished at the Park Hyatt
One of the attractions of this event is that it is not only a race but also a challenge, so for those not so fast or competent swimmers please feel free to use fins or a snorkel mask to get you across the beautiful 'Narrows'.
In 2019 we will continue to partner with the St Kitts & Nevis Special Olympics Group to raise awareness and funds for this important sporting project.
