A strong part of our interest is the encouragement and development of our local and regional youth in the sport of Open water Swimming. This event has been blessed by the participation of young swimmers from around the region even as young as 8 years old, and we are hopeful this trend will continue.
THE SWIM WAS STARTED AS A WAY OF REMEMBERING AND ACKNOWLEDGING THE SUPPORT OF ONE OF OUR EARLY CLUB MEMBERS 'BENTE WEBER' WHOM WE LOST TO CANCER. NOW IN ITS 17TH YEAR THE ATTRACTION OF THE CROSSING GROWS STRONGER EACH YEAR, WITH WOMEN MAKING THE GREATER INPACT ON THE EVENT IN TERMS OF BOTH PARTICIPATION AND VOLUNTEER SUPPORT.
The event has partnered with the Special Olympics St Kitts group for the 3nd year, to help raise awareness and the profile of some of the most decorated and accomplished athletes in our Federation
This coming year we will expand on the Team Relay event that featured for the first time this year, the invitation will be extended out to SO globally and we hope to attract SO relay teams from around the region and the wider world.
