NEVIS TO ST KITTS CROSS CHANNEL SWIM
March 25th 2018
A strong part of our interest is the encouragement and development of our local and regional youth in the sport of Open water Swimming. This event has been blessed by the participation of young swimmers from around the region even as young as 8 years old, and we are hopeful this trend will continue.
THE SWIM WAS STARTED AS A WAY OF REMEMBERING AND ACKNOWLEDGING THE SUPPORT OF ONE OF OUR EARLY CLUB MEMBERS 'BENTE WEBER' WHOM WE LOST TO CANCER. NOW IN ITS 14TH YEAR THE ATTRACTION OF THE CROSSING GROWS STRONGER EACH YEAR, WITH WOMEN MAKING THE GREATER INPACT ON THE EVENT IN TERMS OF BOTH PARTICIPATION AND VOLUNTEER SUPPORT.
The event has partnered with the St Kitts Turtle Conservation group for the 3nd year, to help raise awareness of the plight of one of our oceans endangered species.
This year we will also be acting in support of the Nevis Special Olympics program, to try and raise awareness and some much needed funds for some very special persons.
